Interest: Climate Change

Purpose: Promote

About an hour

In honor of Earth Day, and in celebration of our richly diverse international community of writers, Write the World and Patagonia are asking you to write a personal essay about the planet we call home:

How is the Earth part of you and your story?
Where do you consider yourself at home?
And how has the changing climate changed you?

As we recognize what our planet is losing every day—loss of biodiversity, wisdom, and ways of living together—we invite you to consider how your sense of place serves as an antidote to nature's peril, or as a reminder of the earth's anguish, or both. Your essay should be personal to you and your life, as you explore how the environments you have lived in have shaped your experiences, your family, your perspective, your health, your values, and/or your culture. This writing competition is open to youth writers, age 13-19.5 years.
