If you partake in an alcholic beverage now and again, you might have noticed that the labelling on your bottle of choice hasn't changed. The label was the same last year....5 years ago....you get the picture. In fact, labels haven't changed in 30 years!

That might lead you to conclude that nothing new has come about. Well, that's not actually correct. Beyond pregnancy and the ability to operate heavy machinery, new studies HAVE generated a LOT of new information about alcohol and our health. Since 2003, organizations have petitioned the TBB (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau) to update alcohol labels. And, actually in early January 2023, a consumer group coalition is suing to push this along!

Here are some interesting facts:

👉 Although alcohol intake is, fortunately, a modifiable behavior, many individuals in the US are unaware of the relationship between alcohol intake and cancer risk. Nearly 70% of individuals in a recent survey did not know alcohol was linked to cancer. *

👉 Breast and colorectal cancers are common cancers whose risk increases as alcohol consumption increases. Add in throat, esophagael, and liver cancer too.
