Approximately 33.6 million Americans don’t have access to paid sick leave. Access to it becomes scarcer the less money one makes. Paid sick leave is much more common in the public sector than in private businesses. Around nine-in-ten state and local government workers (91%) have access to it, according to the NCS data.

In the U.S., there are no federal requirements for paid sick leave. Consider urging our members of Congress to offer this protection to all American workers:
