It's amazing how an uplifting text or phone call can turn around a rough day. During the pandemic, a new program was created to give veterans a boost when they felt lonely or isolated. Volunteers with similar interests to veterans were matched up, and it became a lifeline with such positive impact that the program continued beyond the height of covid.
The program is a partnership between American Red Cross and the VA. Consider a few minutes a week to befriend a veteran who is feeling isolated. You can participate from the comfort of your home, or wherever you're located.
