In January of this year, overnight parking was banned in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is an effort to reduce crime crime in the community. Residents can park their cars on the street overnight after purchasing a permit ($55 annually). Many residents cannot afford these permits, and low-income citizens are the ones getting stuck with fines they cannot pay. One $20 citation for parking on the street can rob an employee of 2-3 hours of pay.
