DYK? Right now, in the US, it's estimated that there are thousands of big cats kept as privately owned pets. We only have estimated numbers, because there is currently very little legal regulation around everyday citizens owning tigers, lions, or other big cats. Roadside zoos, black market traders, even private properties using the cats as guard dogs - all are dangerous, not just to the cats, but also to the public.

Currently, there's a bill before the Senate that aims at prohibiting future private ownership of big cats and requiring currently owned big cats to be registered. We can help save big cats, and public safety, by telling our Senators to support this bill. Here's how:
