December 2 is National Special Education Day in America. 7 million disabled students are enrolled in public schools. This was not possible 45 years ago.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) was signed into law on November 29, 1975. This made education available to all American children, including those with disabilities. Prior to this, many kids with disabilities were denied access to education.
