There are an estimated 2million transgender people in the USA. They're friends, coworkers, loved ones, even elected representatives. Still, the world is not as safe and inclusive for trans folks as it should be; good allies can change that.

For this year's National Transgender Awareness Week, here are three quick tips for trans allies:

- Tap "Join" above.

1 - Respect Pronouns: referring to a trans person by their specified pronouns (she/her, they/them) shows respect and supports their identity

2 - Practice Inclusive Language: for example, instead of "ladies and gentlemen", try saying "friends and colleagues"

3 - Support Nondiscrimination Policies: gender-neutral bathrooms, making it illegal to fire people for being trans, etc - these policies need ally support
