Right now, in many military bases across the US, there are military housing rules that ban certain breeds of dog that have been inaccurately deemed aggressive or dangerous, regardless of the individual dog's actual temperament.

This means that soldiers assigned to those bases have to give up their beloved family pets, often surrendering them to shelters where dogs of those breeds are 54% more likely to be euthanized than adopted.

The US Congress is currently debating a new military budget bill that could include breed-neutral language that would allow any breed of dog to live on military bases. If this bill passes, no US soldier would have to give up their pets due to an arbitrary rule.
