There are many reasons that veterans may have trouble finding a job after transitioning to civilian life. Military skills may not translate to a civilian career, or the skills learned while serving in the military may be a complete mismatch for available civilian jobs.

Negative stereotypes also sometimes exist in the civilian workforce that prevent veterans from being hired. Some employers see veterans as too rigid and formal, and as a result, the veteran is left looking for a job.
