1. The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and American Red Cross are accepting donations that will help “provide tools, equipment and immediate disaster relief resources for responders and the thousands displaced or affected”. Go to the foundation’s website at supportlafd.org

2. The city of Calimesa is asking people not to drop off donations of any kind at a Red Cross shelter set up for Sandalwood fire evacuees. Instead, people can donate cash, checks or gift cards at Sanctuary Church, 1090 5th St. Suite 201 in Calimesa, between noon and 5 p.m. or donate online at http://www.sanctuarychurch.com/SWF.

3. The Salvation Army “works in conjunction with government and non-profit agencies to provide food, personal necessities, and shelter to victims and first responders,” according to its website. It notes that donations such as used clothing and furniture are seldom needed by disaster victims, and asks people to consider donating those kinds of items to their local thrift store; cash donations are the most efficient way to get victims what they need, the organization says.
