About an hour

We perhaps have all seen it - a homeless person on the streets with a dog or other pet. It is heartbreaking. Many are quick to judge. Let’s take a moment to learn something about these situations and how you can help.

- Many homeless people with pets will tell you how their pet is their everything.

- Many pets living with homeless people are taken care of as well, if not better, than those living in housing. This Guardian article profiles four homeless people who love their pet: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/jun/16/homeless-people-pets-animals

There are ways that you can help a pet living with a homeless person:

- Consider asking the homeless person if they need something for their dog - food, clean water, bowls, etc.

- Some vets will give free care to pets in need. You can ask if the pet needs medical care, and followup at local vets to see if they offer reduced, or free, care.
