Frequently Asked Questions

ThatHelps is the world’s first online community dedicated to helping. We provide a place where people who feel driven to help can find the interests, organizations, and opportunities to help. ThatHelps offers each member a chance to learn about how others are helping and to find ways that they can make an impact, too.

To join ThatHelps, first download the free app for either Apple or Android. You can then set up an account using your Facebook credentials or by using an email address and password.

Joining ThatHelps is free and only takes a couple minutes to sign up. In creating your profile, you’ll have the opportunity to choose one or more Interests you want to learn more about. When you do, the activities and organizations associated with those Interests will be added to your home feed. This feed will show you how other members and organizations are supporting the causes you care about. You can thank others for their work as well as comment on posts or share your own stories – called Helps™ – to tell others how you’re making a positive impact.

ThatHelps also makes it easy for you to connect with other people and organizations who share your Interests. It’s a great way to join a community of people who care about what you do and are willing to join you in helping to make a difference.

The first thing you’ll see once you’ve signed up with ThatHelps is your home feed. This feed shows all of the activity around the Interests you are following. When you add new Interests, Causes, or friends, the associated activity shows up in your feed, too. This makes your feed very useful for seeing what’s being done to help the things you care about. You can also find new opportunities to help or post how you’re helping to inspire others.

Interests are categories of cause-related issues, such as conservation, humanitarian aid, and education, designed to help make it easier for you to find the areas where you want to help. Following an Interest on ThatHelps gives you visibility into the organizations and opportunities in that Interest area. Following an Interest lets you see the people, companies, and non-profit organizations active in that Interest. It’s a convenient way to observe and explore areas where you might want to help, too.

Members and organizations create Helps™ to show others how they are helping and to inspire others to take action. They are a great way to share information and ideas on how to help.

Opportunities on ThatHelps are chances for you to help. Anyone on ThatHelps can create Opportunities – including you – and then invite others to support those Opportunities. Opportunities can be anything from events to challenges to awareness-building campaigns, petitions, fundraisers and more.

ThatHelps is proud to work with a select group of carefully vetted, non-profit partners who have proven by their actions that they are making a real difference in the world. These Causes are given the “Verified Partner” badge on the ThatHelps app. They are also shown associated with the Interests they work under. Each Cause has a profile page showing what Interests it is affiliated with, and what Helps and Opportunities are associated with it. By looking at a Cause’s Helps and Opportunities you can see all of the activities and people helping that organization.

Yes.  If you know of a non-profit organization that you believe would benefit from being a ThatHelps Verified Partner please send us an email with the entity’s name, contact information, and the website address. This information can be sent to partners@thathelps.com.
