Heed this news before you rent a car next. Our cause partner the Nature Conservancy received a major donation from Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The rental car company announced a $30 million donation to the global nonprofit that works to address conservation challenges around the world.

The five-year extended gift, called “Routes & Roots: Enterprise Healthy Rivers Project,” is designed to support the Conservancy’s long-term water resource management initiatives and is anticipated to help 150 million people worldwide. The Conservancy will use the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation’s donation to help protect and preserve four major rivers and watersheds across North America and Europe, including the Mississippi River and the Colorado River.

We’re thrilled to see our cause partner get a major donation that helps’ its goals. We should also note Enterprise’s Foundation other philanthropic endeavors. The Foundation committed to planting 1 million trees a year for the next fifty years to help restore public lands and launched the  Institute for Renewable Fuels in 2007 to research sustainable bioenergy. Good to know before you search for your next rental car, right?
