5 Ways To Make a Splash For National Ocean Month!

In case you haven’t heard, it’s National Ocean Month, which is fitting since June is the time when most of us start hitting the waves. We’ve got 5 ideas to celebrate our bodies of water (and the animals who call them their home) and help protect them.

1. Discover ten things you can do to save the ocean right now.

2. Become a Waterkeeper. Our cause partner, Waterkeeper Alliance, protects rivers, lakes and oceans, and drinkable, fishable, swimmable water. They have over 300 chapters on six continents. Want to take part in combating the global water crisis? Help fight for every person’s right for clean water.

3. Mind your trash. That is, recycle any plastics you bring to the beach and always double check your packaging to ensure you’re disposing it in the correct bins. Get more tips here.

4.Volunteer with the Bioneers. Another cause partner, Bioneers is an intergenerational group of activists who aim to educate and lift up environmental and social issues by fostering community and approaching the issues with innovative solutions.

5. Sign our partner Trout Unlimited‘s petition. Trout Unlimited calls on the president to recognize the unique values at stake and protect Bristol Bay’s incredible fish, wildlife and water resources from the proposed Pebble Mine in Alaska.
